The HSBC Celebration of Light Fireworks was once again the venue of choice for Garth’s client appreciation events this year. Having a great entertaining craft like “Tungar” and the success of last years events made the fireworks an easy choice.
The temperatures were unseasonably cool for late July in Vancouver this year, but that didn’t stop the usual jovial mood that prevails on Tungar. The welcome margaritas may have helped, the amazing fireworks displays definitely did.
The competition was close this year and by the third night of competition, China & Canada were in a deadlock tie. Canada’s darker “War of the Worlds” theme drew mixed reactions from many spectators; China’s show was as spectacular and powerful as usual. In the end, China received the people’s choice award, and Canada prevailed with top honors for the entire event.
A quote from the head Judge of the competition Tiko Kerr:
“The winner presented a complete narrative; a dramatic concept, executed with incomparable choreography and precision, that took the audience on an astonishing theatrical journey. This was not mere pyrotechnics to songs strung together. We feel it is the beginning of a brave and imaginative new experience in fireworks, where a tale is told in fantastic exploding abstractions.”
The cruises start out on the North Shore, with a few beverages at the dock, a chance for all party goers to meet, and familiarize themselves with the safety features aboard Tungar. Once everyone is aboard we head out for a tour through False Creek via the Vancouver harbour, before taking in the breathtaking displays of fireworks. To experience the HSBC Celebration of Light by boat is truly a unique experience that you don't want to miss.

The Harvest Project
The Harvest Project is the only not-for-profit on the North Shore working to, "Extend a hand up, not a hand out." Since 1993, Harvest has been reaching out to individuals and families in an attempt to help them cope with difficult life circumstances; family break-ups, illness, job loss, addiction and mental health issues can create feelings of desperation in anyone's life.
We help clients to overcome challenges and move towards being self-sufficient, once again. The Harvest Project nurtures the potential of every client while helping them to achieve a positive destiny. Harvest was founded upon the core elements missing from most assistance agencies: respect, dignity and accountability.
Clients will find the support network they need for success at Harvest Project. Through client care programs, counseling, resource services, clothing and groceries Harvest can provide the safety net between temporary setbacks and crises.
Their counselor and client care partners build relationships with our clients so that the circumstances, goals and obstacles in each person's life can be honestly and compassionately addressed.
Clients must be willing to help themselves as they strive to find gainful employment, learn new life skills, and overcome difficult circumstances.
